Date code / lot number is the number to identify when the component is being manufactured. It is for the factories production quality control and tracing purposes. Date code: There are 3 different date code format on our relays: 1) Three digit code: The first digit represents the year and the remaining two digits represent the week number in a. These date codes simply serve to identify the manufacturing location and date for a Louis Vuitton handbag, not to verify it's authenticity. With the exception of early handbags (early 1980s and older), date codes can be found on all Louis Vuitton handbags and other items made by the luxury brand (e.g. All Louis Vuitton bags before the early 1980s did not come with a datecode. But most Louis Vuitton bags still in circulation will have a datecode. Datecodes can provide the date and place of manufacture of the bag. Because many datecodes provide the country origin of this bag, this can be another checkpoint for authentication.

The first thing you should look for is the spacing between the vertical prong of the L and V. The spacing between these two points should remain the (relatively) same distance from the bottom of the buckle to the top. Many fake Damier belts will have this spacing uneven, where it is noticeable to the naked eye. Authentic belts do not have to havecomplete precision, but the spacing should not be obviously uneven. This simple tip should allow you to quickly filter through a large portion of the counterfeit belts that you will encounter on e-commerce sites such as ebay and Amazon. The image below willgo into further detail concerning the buckle, adding some pattern spacing specs at the tip of the belt, as well as the proper fixation of the buckle within the Damier pattern itself.
Below is a mark up of an authentic Damier LV buckle noting the important authentication specs. The parallel spacing, the centering of the intersection of the L and V within the square pattern, the partial pattern at the tip of the belt.

The first point [1] refers to the partial damier pattern at the tip. You can clearly see thatthe pattern begins with a partial pattern. The width of the pattern can be determined by counting the column marks at thebottom or top of the square. In this case, it appears to be about 4 columns wide. And this width will generally be consistenton most authentic belts. The second point [2] is to mark where the buckle itself should be mounted with respect to the pattern. Here you can see that the bottom intersection of the L and the V is fixed at the border of a light/dark square, centeredwithin. This lower intersection is marked where the orange line overlaps with the yellow line. This detail should also be fairly consistent with authentic belts. The third and final point [3] demonstrates what we referred to in the image above asthe spacing between the L and V. The yellow lines demonstrate the parallel spacing that remains consistent from thebottom to the top.
Below is an image of the Louis Vuitton heat stamp impressed into the inner belt.
This is an image of the Louis Vuitton 'Made in Spain' heat stamp specs. The heat stamps are important because they will give a number of clues as to the authenticity of the belt. For more info on some of the specifics of the actual Louis Vuitton font, take a look here. For the purpose of this guide, we will focus on two issues. The first is the quality issue. The heat stamp should generally be a high quality impression, one that is crisp and clear and whereas the letters do not blur or bleed into each other. And the second point to take of is the number of stitches that run the widthof the heat stamp. In this case, roughly 7 stitches are contained within the width of the heat stamp. This is a good clue. Authentic Damier belts will generally come within this range.
Below is an image of a model number and size measurements of the belt.
The model number and size stamp should conform to the same quality issues as the heat stamp. On this belt, the model number reads: M9609. Below this is the size reference. The upper number refers to the belt size in centimeters, and the lower number refers to the size in inches.
Below is an image of the date code stamped into the inner Damier belt.
The date code is important piece of the authentication story as it tells where and when the item was made. Firstly, note that the date code should also maintain the same quality level of detail as the label, model and size heat stamps. This particular date code reads: CA2059. For more information on deciphering a Louis Vuitton date code check out our table here. In this case the country code [CA] stands for 'made in Spain', and the following four digit sequence tells us that this belt was made in the 25th week in the year 2009. Another detail to point out is the difference in font type for the digits that Louis Vuitton has used for Damier belt. Notice the number 5 within the date code (left) when compared to the 5 in the size metric (above). The two fonts are clearly not the same. This is something to pay attention to, as many fakes might miss a detail like this, and simply (for reasons of time and money constraints) use the same font (stamp) for the entire belt.

Below are some hardware and stitching details to take note of. In this case, the type of screw and the shape of belt fastener. Notice that the screws used are flat head (-) and not of the Phillips variety (+). Also notice how the fastener has a sleek curvature to it. The image on the right shows the inner end point of the belt. What is important to note here is the stitching. The stitching maintains an even spacing between it and the edge of the belt, and there are roughly 10 stitches that run across the very tip of the belt.
Home»Blog»7 Ways to Spot a Fake Louis Vuitton Speedy
We specialize in selling pre-owned designer bags, shoes, clothing and accessories. We want all of our buyers to feel confident about every purchase they make inside Sabrina's Closet. This is why we always ensure that all of our products are authentic.
When you think designer copies, Louis Vuitton handbags are probably one of the first to come to mind. There are tons out there. Some obvious, and some, well, a little trickier to catch. So, how can you tell if the Louis Vuitton Speedy bag that you are about to buy online is the real deal? We've put together a simple step-by-step guide to be sure.
Below, we have a photo of two monogram Louis Vuitton Speedy bags. One is authentic, one is a replica. Can you spot it? Dmde keygen and patch by rept.
The fake on is actually the one on the right. Hard to tell, right? Keep reading to find out the main differences we noticed between both bags when comparing them side by side.
1 | Heat stamp font on leather tab
One of the first things we always look at is the font of the heat stamp on the leather tab - specifically the 'O'. It's a quick giveaway. The 'O' must be a circle shape and not an oval shape. If this is not the case with a bag you are about to purchase, you can guarantee that it is not authentic.
In the picture below, you will see the differences in the font with the authentic (left) and the fake (right). You will also notice other subtle differences on the leather tab. The stamped logo on the leather tab is positioned closer to the stitching on the authentic Speedy compared to the fake one.
2 | Color of leather handles
Louis Vuitton leather handles are made from Vachetta leather, which darkens as the bag ages. When comparing the two handbags bags side by side, you can see a clear difference between the authentic leather handles and the fake ones. You will notice the leather handles on the authentic Speedy are visibly darker compared to the replica.
3 | Date Codes & Lining
Lv Date Code Lookup
Just because a Speedy bag has a date code, it does not necessarily mean it is authentic! Date codes on Louis Vuitton Speedy bags can be found behind the inner pocket on a leather tab.
The leather tab should be slightly oval, with the date code embossed and have brass hardware with 'Louis Vuitton' embossed. As seen in the photograph below, the fake Speedy leather tabs too long, is overlapping the stitching too much, and the positioning of the brass hardware is too high. Something we also noticed that cannot be seen in photographs is that the hardware on the authentic Speedy is convex (curving outward), whereas on the fake Speedy, it is flat.
There is also a noticeable difference in the color of the lining on both bags. An authentic Louis Vuitton Speedy should have honey-brown cotton canvas lining. The lining on the replica below has a duller brown color to it.
You should also not be able to pull the lining apart from the handbag - the lining should be one with the outside of the bag. In the fake handbag, you can pull it away from the outside of the bag at the base.
4 | Hardware
Don't forget to inspect the hardware. The hardware on an authentic Louis Vuitton Speedy is made from brass metal. When compared to a replica, authentic Louis Vuitton hardware has more of a bronze color and the replicas usually have a golden color.
The brass studs on an authentic Louis Vuitton handbag also have 'Louis Vuitton' embossed. Contrary to the heat stamp, the 'O' on the hardware has a more oval shape.
It may be hard to tell in the photographs below, but there are two notable differences in the shape of the hardware. The brass studs on the authentic Speedy are convex (curving outwards) whereas the studs replica handbag is more flat.
There is also a difference of the shape of the brass metal piece holding the leather handles and the leather tab together. On the authentic Louis Vuitton Speedy, it has a continuous round shape with no flat sides. On the replica, the edges of the brass piece are much flatter with distinct sides.
5 | Zipper
Lv Date Code Sd
In the photos below, you can see a clear difference on the zippers of both bags. The back-side of leather tab on the authentic Louis Vuitton speedy is made from real leather and is much more frayed whereas the replica zip is not. When holding the bags side by side, the 'leather' handles and zipper pulls on the replica bag feel much more rigid and plastic.
6 | Size Stamp
The size of the Speedy should be stamped under the leather tab of the bag. For example, if you have a Speedy 35, the number '35' should be stamped.
7 | Overall Feel
The overall feel of an authentic Louis Vuitton Speedy feels soft, supple and light. The replica bag feel much more stiff and hard.
